Campus Visitation Program
The Campus Visitation Program (CVP) is designed to encourage under-represented students to purse advanced degrees. Student participation is by invitation only. The UF Office of Minority Program networks with college and universities from across the nation, seeking nominations and applications to the program. All students are encouraged to apply. Acceptance is based on academic merit. This process facilitates recruitment of highly qualified and motivated students.
During the visitation, participants get to learn more about UF's graduate and professional programs, as well as meet with administrators, faculty members and current graduate students. The CVP is held over two days every spring and fall semesters. Housing and some meals are paid for by the university, and participants can get some reimbursement toward travel expenses.
This is an excellent opportunity for juniors and seniors who are underrepresented in graduate studies [ethnic & cultural minority groups (African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders, Asians, etc.), students underrepresented in their academic field (males in nursing, females in engineering, European-Americans in African studies, etc.) and students who are first-generation college graduates] to visit the University of Florida campus. The future scholars receive an overview of the University of Florida graduate degree programs, a review of financial sources, and assistance in the application and decision-making process involved with selecting a graduate school.
