GRADUATE DIVERSITY AT UFStudent, faculty and staff diversity is a key, integral factor in graduate education at the University of Florida. The UF Office of Graduate Minority Programs, along with other agencies on campus, exists to nurture, enhance and expand it, fostering an equitable, hospitable and inclusive educational environment where people of all backgrounds, ages and life experiences can achieve their personal and professional best through higher learning, teaching and research. UF Office of Graduate Minority ProgramsThe UF Office of Graduate Minority Programs spearheads the UF Graduate School's contribution to campus diversity by working for the recruitment, retention and graduation of minority and underrepresented students in master's degree and doctoral degree programs. It has a twofold mission: (1) Increasing the number of graduate students from underrepresented ethnic or racial groups: African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, Native Alaskans (Aleuts and Eskimos), Native Americans and Native Pacific Islanders. (2) Providing prospective and enrolled graduate students in underrepresented demographic groups with material aid and mentoring to help in their successful pursuit of a graduate school education. It accomplishes this mission through a variety of programs, services and support initiatives, including:
