AAUW Financial Aid for Female Graduate Students
The American Association of University Women (AAUW) offers a number of different fellowships, grants and scholarships to promote education and equity for females, especially female college students who are minorities or majoring in professions where females are underrepresented. Advanced Fuel Cycle Initiative
Global Nuclear Energy Partnership Fellows
AFCI/GNEP fellowships provide financial support for tuition, fees, books, supplies and AFCI-related travel for master's degree students in applied physics, chemical engineering, chemistry, engineering physics, materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering, nuclear chemistry, nuclear engineering, physics, radiochemistry and other fields of interest to the AGCI/GNEP program. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent resident aliens enrolled full-time at a US university pursuing research and thesis topic approved by the AFCI/GNEP program. AIR/NCES Fellowships for Graduate Study
The Association for Institutional Research (AIR), as part of its contract to improve the quality of institutional research in US postsecondary education systems and the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), offers graduate fellowships for full-time doctoral students and part-time graduate students, funded by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). These fellowships are for graduate study advancing or leading to careers in institutional research, thereby increasing the national level of expertise of institutional research officers and the data they produce. Bell Labs Graduate Research Fellowship Program
for Women and Underrepresented Minorities in the Sciences
Bell Labs Graduate Research Fellowships offer full tuition, a $17,000 yearly stipend, a $250 per semester book allowance and $1,000 per year in travel funding to conferences for US citizen or permanent resident female and minority graduate students working full-time toward a Doctor of Philosophy degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, communications science, computer science/engineering, electrical engineering, information science, materials science, mathematics, mechanical engineering, operations research, physics or statistics. The program includes summer work with a mentor at Lucent Technologies Bell Labs. This fellowship is renewable on a yearly basis for up to four years of graduate study, subject to satisfactory progress toward the doctoral degree. Charlotte W. Chateaubriand Fellowships
Sponsored by the Embassy of France in the United States, Chateaubriand Fellowships offer up to 12 months of monthly stipends, round-trip travel to France, health insurance coverage and 30 days per diem for travel in France to doctoral students at US universities whose research in the humanities or sciences would benefit from visiting France. Delores Auzenne Dissertation Award
The Delores Auzenne Dissertation Award is a competitively awarded program available for underrepresented PhD students in the writing stages of their dissertation. Applicants may not receive a fellowship, assistantship or other funding with this award. The award provides up to one semester of support, which includes tuition assistance up to three hours of dissertation credits, and a $5,000 stipend.
Recipients may only qualify for the award for one semester. The application deadline is mid-April. Awards are normally made for the fall semester. You must adhere to application guidelines in order to qualify for full consideration. Awardees will be expected to participate in at least two Professional Development Programs organized by the UF Office of Graduate Minority Programs, and provide regular updates of their writing progress. Individual Advanced Research Opportunities Fellowships
IREX IARO Fellowships provide graduate students with financial support and research opportunities for overseas study of contemporary political, economical, historical and cultural developments relevant to US foreign policy. (Limited funding is available for non-policy-relevant topics as well.) Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents. The US Department of Education's Jacob K. Mary Isabel Sibley Fellowships
For Women in French or Greek Studies
Mary Isabel Sibley Fellowships offers a one-year $20,000 fellowship to female graduate students majoring in French studies (awarded during even-numbered years) or Greek studies (awarded during odd-numbered years). Applicants must be unmarried women between 25 through 35 years old who have met all requirements for their doctoral degrees except the dissertation and plan to commit to full-time research during the fellowship year. NASA Graduate Student Research Program
The NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) Graduate Student Research Program awards fellowships of $24,000 ($18,000 student stipend, $3,000 student allowance and $3,000 university allowance) to US citizens pursuing master's or doctoral degrees in science, mathematics and engineering related to NASA research and development at an accredited US college or university. The NASA Harriett G. Jenkins Predoctoral Fellowship Program seeks to increase the number of women, minorities and people with disabilities in NASA-related fields by providing full-time underrepresented graduate students at accredited US universities and colleges with financial support for their studies in engineering, mathematics, science and technology. National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowships provide three years of $30,000 annual stipends and $10,500 cost-of-education allowances for use within a five-year period. Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships aid new Americans in pursuing educational opportunities and fulfilling their potential in their new homeland. They include a $20,000 maintenance grant (paid in two installments) and half the cost of tuition at the recipient's graduate program at a US institution (up to $16,000 an academic year). SMART Defense Scholarship for Service Program
The SMART (Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation) Defense Scholarship for Service Program is funded by the US Department of Defense and offers annual stipends, full tuition and related educational fees, a book allowance, paid summer internships and career opportunities after graduation to qualifying US citizens and nationals who are pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering and science, able to obtain US Department of Defense security clearance and willing to work in a defense laboratory after graduation. The SPICE (Science Partners in Inquiry-Based Collaborative Education) Fellowship Program is a project funded by the National Science Foundation to foster inquiry-based learning of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in under-resourced middle schools in Gainesville, Florida in collaboration with a wide spectrum of colleges, schools, departments and centers at the University of Florida and the Alachua County School Board. US Department of Homeland Security Graduate Fellowships
US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Graduate Fellowships provide 12 months of a monthly $2,300 stipend and payment of full tuition and mandatory, nonrefundable fees over three years, subject to satisfactory academic progress and availability of funding, to graduate students in computer science, engineering, information science, life science, mathematical science, physical science, psychology and selected humanities. The two-year paid US Presidential Management Fellows Program recruits outstanding individuals in various majors and career paths who are interested in public service in the US federal government.
