New Student Orientation

Orientation for new graduate students takes place at the start of fall and spring semesters every academic year to acquaint you with UF personnel, services, policies and procedures as a newcomer to the University of Florida. Graduate students admitted for summer semesters are to attend fall orientation.

Fall 2008 Academic Written English Screening Test
for International Students

Wednesday, 20 August 2008
8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Room E121, Computer Science and Engineering Building, UF campus

This test is required for all non-US or Puerto Rican students whose verbal GRE, IELTS, MELAB or TOEFL scores fall below these minimums: 320 (verbal GRE), 6 (IELTS), 77 (MELAB), 213 (computer TOEFL), 80 (Internet TOEFL) or 550 (paper TOEFL). Those who do not pass this test must take and pass EAP 5845 Academic Written English during their first semester at UF.

Fall 2008 SPEAK Test
for International Students

Wednesday, 20 August 2008
4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Room 1341, Turlington Hall, UF campus

This test is required by Florida law for all non-US students who are receiving a graduate teaching assistantship, but have not submitted TSE (Test of Spoken English) scores to UF.

Optional for Graduate Teaching Assistants:

Department and college orientations will take place on Thursday, 21 August 2008 and Friday, 22 August 2008. For dates and times, contact your department or college.

Graduate orientation is a joint effort of the UF Graduate School, UF International Center, UF Office of Instructional Resources, UF Graduate Student Council, individual colleges and departments, and student groups on the UF campus.
